I believe that many people don't truly appreciate what science really is and means. Science is a collective human endeavour to reach deeper understandings of how nature works. It is not supposed to tell us why we are here and it is not an alternative to spirituality, philosophy or even religion. As a matter of fact, those things are excellent complements to each other.

Science is based on a priciple that all of it may be wrong and this is what makes it so special. Every theory, no matter how well tested, hangs on a thin thread and first sign of non-accordance with reality can overthrow it, or in Einstein's words: "No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong." But still, scientific theory is not a "theory" in casual meaning of the word. Scientific theory is much stronger than that - it is the best description of particular aspect of nature we have been able to come up with so far. In science there is no definite truths and we just have to live with that. Anybody who claims that he knows something for sure, is just fooling himself or herself.

Sometimes a work of a scientist can really be boring and repetitious (and we thank them for persisting!), but in human history there have been a few really incredible moments of great revelations and new, dramatic insights in deep principles of nature's working. We, as humans, are constantly expanding our consciousness. Trees and animals are likely doing the same, the only difference is that we learned how to pass great amounts of knowledge between generations.

Science cannot tell us what is right or wrong, good or bad for it is our collective responsibility what we do with our knowledge. The same key opens the gates of heaven and hell.

People should have no fear peeking into great discoveries science has made, even if they don't understand equations and derivations. Those are just human invention, nature is not calculating anything - it just is as it is and doesn't know how to be any different. And all the fundamental laws or nature are not even derived from anything - they are guessed. Some things are apparently not intuitive - nature is much smarter than us and is always in the right.

Science, for example, can tell us between the lines, that we were not "created" by anything. We are it. We grew out of this planet like apples grow on a tree. We are not separated from the outside world by our skin, we are one with the outside world. Science adds to the beauty of the world and life. Life is just like dancing, the goal is not to arrive to the other side of the room, but to dance. So dance to the music of the spheres.

I was a scientist in my previous life.
